Drain problems we clear in Apex homes

Most drain calls are one of these six. Tell us which one you have and we will tell you what it usually takes to fix it.

Slow drains

A sink or tub that drains slowly usually has buildup close to the fixture: hair, soap scale, or grease. We clear it and check that the line downstream is flowing, so the same drain is not slow again next month.

Clogged kitchen sinks

Kitchen lines collect grease and food solids, and a disposal pushes more of both into the pipe. We cable the line from the right access point and, when the pipe wall is coated, recommend jetting instead of a temporary punch-through.

Shower and tub drains

Hair and soap build up in the trap and the first few feet of pipe. We clear the line properly rather than pouring in chemicals that can damage older pipe and fittings.

Toilets that back up

A toilet that gurgles or backs up when another fixture runs usually points past the toilet itself. We find out whether the problem is the toilet, the branch line, or the main.

Garage, laundry, and utility drains

A floor or laundry drain that backs up often shares a line with the kitchen or the main. We locate the blockage and clear it at the source instead of at the symptom.

Main line backups

When more than one fixture backs up, the problem is in the main sewer line. We clear it and run a camera when the symptoms call for it, so you know whether it was a one-time clog, roots, or a damaged pipe.

Clear Answers

What a drain call looks like

  1. 1

    Tell us what is happening

Which fixtures are affected, when it started, and whether it has happened before. We give you an arrival window and the price before any work starts.

  2. 2

We clear it the right way

A cable for a simple clog. Hydro jetting when grease or scale keeps bringing the clog back. A camera when the symptoms point to the main line, so we are not guessing about what is in the pipe.

  3. 3

    You see what we found

We explain the cause in plain language, show you the camera footage when we ran one, and give you options with no pressure. If the line needs repair, you hear it from us with a price, not a surprise later.

Local Knowledge

Why drains clog in Apex homes

Apex has three kinds of houses, and each clogs differently. Older homes near downtown and Salem Street often still have cast iron or clay drain lines that have narrowed with decades of scale, so a line that was fine for years can start backing up on an ordinary week. The 1990s subdivisions, places like Scotts Mill and Haddon Hall, are now old enough for root intrusion at the joints of the sewer lateral. The newer neighborhoods toward New Hill and along NC 55 are mostly on PVC, which rarely fails on its own; there the usual causes are grease, wipes, and a disposal doing more than it should.

Clay soil is the other factor. It swells when wet and shrinks when dry, which moves buried lines, and the mature oaks and pines in older yards send roots into any joint that has opened. If you have repeat backups, gurgling drains, or a soft spot in the yard, a camera inspection tells us whether you need the line cleared or sewer line repair. Lines that keep loading up with grease or scale are a job for hydro jetting.

Our shop is at 3460 Apex Pkwy, so most Apex addresses are a short drive. We work Monday through Saturday, 7:00 to 18:00, and a main line backup counts as an emergency during those hours. If water is coming up a floor drain or a tub, stop running water in the house and call. For the rest of the house, see our Apex plumber page.

Commercial Drain Service

Commercial drain cleaning in Apex

Restaurants, offices, and multi-unit properties in Apex call us for the same reasons homeowners do, with less tolerance for downtime. We clear, jet, inspect, and repair commercial drain and sewer lines, and we schedule around your hours where we can.

Restaurants and commercial kitchens

Kitchen lines between the sinks and the grease trap outlet load up with grease and soap scale. We clear them, jet them when the pipe wall needs it, and can set a jetting schedule so the line is cleaned before it backs up in the middle of service.

Property managers and HOAs

Repeat calls from the same building or shared lateral usually mean buildup, not bad luck. We camera the line, clear it, and send you what we found so you can plan maintenance instead of reacting to backups.

Retail, offices, and workplaces

Restroom groups, floor drains, mop sinks, and break room lines. We schedule around your business hours where we can and leave the space the way we found it.

Helpful Details

Drain cleaning questions from Apex

Can you clear a drain the same day in Apex?

Often, but we will not promise it before we know the schedule. Our shop is in Apex and we work Monday through Saturday, 7:00 to 18:00. Call (919) 679-1275 and we will give you the earliest real arrival window, not a guess.

How much does drain cleaning cost in Apex?

It depends on which drain, where the blockage is, and whether the line needs a cable, jetting, or a camera inspection. We give you the price before we start, you approve it before any work happens, and nothing is added without your okay.

Should I try a chemical drain cleaner first?

We would rather you did not. Caustic cleaners rarely clear a real blockage, they can damage older pipe and fittings, and they make the line unsafe for whoever opens it next. Hot water and a plunger are fine to try. If that does not work, call.

Is it a clogged drain or a sewer line problem?

One slow fixture is almost always a local clog. Several fixtures backing up at once, a gurgling toilet, or sewage at a floor drain point to the main line. We find out with a camera when the symptoms call for it and explain what we see before we quote a repair.

Do you install french drains or fix yard drainage in Apex?

No. We work on the drain and sewer lines inside and under the house, out to the main. Yard drainage, french drains, and gutter drains are landscape work, and we would rather tell you that up front than send a truck.

Do you do commercial drain cleaning in Apex?

Yes. Restaurants, offices, retail, and multi-unit properties, including scheduled jetting for commercial kitchens, camera inspections, and sewer line repair when the pipe itself is the problem.
