You smell gas
Leave the house with everyone and every pet. Do not flip switches or use a phone inside. Call your gas utility or 911 from outside. After the utility clears the house, call us and we will find the source and repair it.
Gas Leak Repair and New Gas Lines
If you smell gas, do not look for the leak. Get everyone outside and call your gas utility from outside the house first. Once the utility has made the area safe, we find the leak, repair the line, and pressure test it. Need a new gas line for a range, dryer, generator, or patio? We do that too, and we give you the real price before we start.

Gas Line Repair and Installation
Gas calls in Raleigh fall into two groups: a line that is leaking or failing, and a line that has to be added. Here is how each one usually goes.
Leave the house with everyone and every pet. Do not flip switches or use a phone inside. Call your gas utility or 911 from outside. After the utility clears the house, call us and we will find the source and repair it.
A faint smell, a hissing fitting, or a utility that will not turn service back on all call for the same thing: a pressure test of the whole system. We isolate sections of the line until we pinpoint the leak, then fix it and test again.
Older Raleigh houses often have black-iron gas pipe that has rusted at the joints, near the meter, or where it runs through damp crawlspaces. We replace the failing section, or the whole run if it is worn throughout.
Converting from electric means a new line from the nearest tie-in. We check that the existing supply can carry the added appliance before we run anything.
These are big gas loads. We run a permanent line outside, add a shutoff you can reach, and size the pipe for the full BTU load of everything on it, so a pool heater does not starve the furnace.
Moving a range or dryer means moving the line behind it. We cap what is no longer used, extend what is, and leave every connection accessible.
Clear Answers
For a leak, we test the line and locate the source. For a new line, we plan the route and add up the BTU load of every appliance. You get the real price before we start, and nothing happens until you approve it.
We make the repair or run the new line, then pressure test every joint before any appliance is connected. We pull permits where the city requires them.
Where an inspection is required, we schedule it and meet the inspector. Then we confirm the appliance runs correctly and show you where the shutoff is.
Gas Lines in Raleigh
Raleigh has several eras of housing, and the gas piping reflects each one. Older homes in central Raleigh can have black-iron lines that have been in service for decades. Rust at the threads, a line near the meter, or pipe that runs through a damp crawlspace are the usual trouble spots. A line that sat quiet for years can start to leak after yard work or an appliance swap, so we test the pipe before we blame the appliance.
In North and West Raleigh, newer homes are often the ones adding load: a standby generator, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, or a pool heater. Each draws a lot of gas, and the pipe has to carry the combined BTU demand of everything on it. We add it up first and tell you plainly if the line or the supply needs upgrading. Where the city requires a permit and inspection, we handle both.

Commercial Gas Service
Restaurants and shops in Raleigh run on gas too. We repair and install gas piping for commercial customers as well as homeowners.
Downtown and in Glenwood South, tight kitchens pack a lot of gas equipment into a small space. We run and extend lines for ranges, fryers, and cooking lines, sized for the whole kitchen, pressure tested, and permitted where required.
Outdoor dining means patio heaters. We run the line, add a shutoff, and test it before the heaters go on.
Leak detection and repair for commercial lines, plus moving or capping lines during a buildout, with the work documented for property managers.

Often, yes. New gas lines and many repairs need a permit and inspection where the City of Raleigh requires them. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection, so the work is documented and checked.
Yes. We run a new line or extend an existing one, add a shutoff, and pressure test it. We size the pipe for the total BTU load first, so the new appliance does not starve the ones already running.
Not always. Black iron rusts, especially at joints and in damp spaces. We test the line and look at the pipe. If it is sound, we tell you so. If it is corroding, we replace the bad section and explain what we found.
