Faucet Repair and Replacement

Faucet problems we fix in Raleigh

Most faucet calls are one of these six. Tell us which one sounds like yours and we will tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement.

Dripping faucet: cartridge or valve seat

A drip from the spout means a worn cartridge, washer, or a pitted valve seat. If the parts are available, a repair is often the better choice. When the faucet is corroded or the seat is damaged, a replacement lasts longer.

Leak at the base or handle

Water pooling around the base or running down from the handle means worn O-rings or seals. We replace them, or tell you if the faucet body is too far gone.

Stiff handle or low flow

A handle that is hard to turn has mineral buildup or a failing cartridge. Low flow can be a clogged aerator, scale in the faucet, or a stop valve that is not fully open. We start at the spout and work back.

Outdoor hose bibs and frost-free sillcocks

A hose bib that drips at the stem or leaks inside the wall when a hose is left on needs repair. Frost-free sillcocks fail when water is left in the stem. We repair or replace them.

Under-sink shut-offs that will not close

If you cannot shut the water off under the sink, you cannot safely work on the faucet. We replace old stop valves and supply lines so the next repair starts with a valve that works.

New faucet with a new counter or vanity

The faucet has to match the number of holes in the sink or counter, and older sinks are often drilled for a different configuration. We tell you what fits before you buy it, or we install the one you bring.

Clear Answers

What a faucet call looks like

  1. 1

Tell us what it is doing

Which faucet, what it does, and the brand if you know it. Photos help. We give you an arrival window and the price before work begins.

  2. 2

We tell you repair or replace

We look at the faucet, the stop valves, and the supply lines. You hear what a repair involves, what a replacement involves, and which we recommend.

  3. 3

We do the work and test it

We make the repair or set the new faucet, then check every connection for leaks with the water on before we leave.

Raleigh Homes

Faucet repair in Raleigh homes

Raleigh water is moderately hard, and scale is what stiffens handles, clogs aerators, and wears out cartridges. Older homes in Central Raleigh and inside the Beltline often have faucets and valves that are decades old, and some are no longer made. Where a repair kit is not available, we replace the faucet and tell you why. In older sinks, we check that the new faucet matches the holes already drilled in the sink or counter.

In North Raleigh, many homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s, and builder-grade faucets there are at the end of their life. Outdoor hose bibs are a common call there too: a drip at the stem, or a frost-free sillcock that leaks inside the wall. Homes from roughly 1978 to 1995 may also have polybutylene supply piping, so if we see gray plastic lines under your sink we will tell you what we found.

Helpful Details

Faucet repair questions from Raleigh

How much does faucet repair cost in Raleigh?

It depends on the faucet, the parts, and whether the stop valves also need replacing. We give you the real price before we start, and nothing happens until you approve it. Call (919) 679-1275 for an arrival window.

Should I repair or replace my faucet?

If the faucet is in good shape and parts are available, a cartridge or seal repair is often enough. If it is corroded, leaking at the body, or parts are hard to find, replacing it is the better use of your money. We tell you which we recommend.

Can you install a faucet I bought myself?

Yes. We will tell you up front if anything will not fit, such as the hole count in your sink or the supply connections. Faucets with fewer holes are easier to match to an older sink.

My outdoor faucet is leaking. Can you repair it?

Yes. A drip at the stem is a repair. A frost-free sillcock that leaks inside the wall needs to be replaced. We check it and tell you which it is.

Why is the water pressure low at one faucet?

If only one faucet is weak, the cause is usually a clogged aerator, scale in the faucet, or a stop valve that is not fully open. If every fixture is weak, the problem is elsewhere, and we can look at that too.

Do you repair faucets for Raleigh businesses?

Yes. Restaurants, salons, and offices have the same faucet problems and need them fixed around business hours. Call (919) 679-1275 and tell us when you are open.
