Main line backups that return
A line that clears and backs up again within months is not a clog problem anymore. Roots, a break, or a low spot is catching waste. The camera shows which one, so we fix the cause.

Sewer Line Problems
Most sewer calls in Cary come down to one of these six. Tell us which one you have and we will tell you what it usually takes.
A line that clears and backs up again within months is not a clog problem anymore. Roots, a break, or a low spot is catching waste. The camera shows which one, so we fix the cause.
In older Cary neighborhoods the trees are big and the laterals are 30 or more years old. Roots enter at joints and cracks. We clear them, camera the pipe, and tell you whether the line is still sound or needs repair.
Clay soil shifts and a buried line can settle into a low spot that holds water and paper. A cable gets through but the problem stays, so the sagging section has to be corrected.
Cracks, separated joints, and collapsed sections show up on camera. We locate the damage and its depth, then repair that section or replace the lateral if the damage runs along the line.
If your line has no cleanout, every cleaning means pulling a toilet or going through a roof vent. We install a cleanout so the line can be cleared and inspected from the yard.
A new bathroom, a basement finish, or a detached space needs a sewer connection that works. We install the new line, connect it to the existing lateral properly, and pull permits where the town requires them.
Clear Answers
We run a camera through the line, find the damage, and mark its location and depth. You see what we see before we recommend anything.
A spot repair, a full replacement, a cleanout, or a new line, each explained with the price before we start. You approve the work before anything is dug.
We make the repair or install the new line, and we pull permits where the town requires them. Where an inspection is required, we schedule it and the job is not finished until it passes.
Cary Homes
Most of Cary was built between the 1980s and the 2000s, so a lot of sewer laterals here are decades old. In Kildaire Farms, Scottish Hills, Greenwood Forest, and MacGregor Downs, mature trees sit over the lines, and roots work into any joint that has shifted. Those are the homes where a main line clears, then backs up again, and where a camera inspection is worth more than another cable.
Cary has both slab-on-grade and crawlspace homes. Under a slab the main drain is buried and hard to reach, so a camera matters before anyone talks about replacement. Triangle clay soil shifts through wet and dry seasons, and it is the usual reason a buried line sags or separates. If you need a sewer cleanout, we can add one on a slab home or a crawlspace home. If the line is sound but clogs from grease or scale, hydro jetting may be the better fix, and our sewer line repair page covers the rest.
Our shop is at 3460 Apex Pkwy, right across the town line, and we work Monday through Saturday, 7:00 to 18:00. If sewage is coming up a drain, stop running water in the house and call. For everything else we do in town, see our Cary plumber page.
Commercial Sewer Service
Shared laterals, restaurant lines, and multi-unit buildings fail like a house line does, with more people affected when they do. We camera the line, repair or replace the damaged section, and schedule around your hours where we can.
When several units share one lateral, one failure backs up all of them. We camera the line, find the damage, and give the board a clear report and price to decide from.
Repeat backups at the same building mean the line needs a look, not another cable. We document what we find with footage and give you options you can plan around.
Grease and heavy use are hard on a kitchen sewer line. We camera it, jet it, repair failed sections, and try to schedule work outside service hours.
Helpful Details
It depends on the length and depth of the line, what is above it (lawn, driveway, landscaping), and whether you need a spot repair, a replacement, or a new line. We camera it first, give you the price before we start, and you approve it before any work happens.
In most Triangle towns the homeowner is responsible for the lateral from the house to the main. Confirm with your utility, because where your part ends can differ by property. The camera shows us where the damage is so you know which side it is on.
We camera the line first and recommend the method that fits what we find. Our work is open-trench: a spot repair of the damaged section, or a full replacement of the lateral. If the damage is limited, a small excavation can be all it takes. Call (919) 679-1275 and we will talk through your situation.
It depends on the length and depth of the line, what is in the way, and whether permits or an inspection are involved. A spot repair is much quicker than a full run. After the camera inspection we give you a realistic schedule with the price.
Repairs are made by digging down to the pipe, so there will be digging. We locate the damage with the camera first so we open only what we need. A spot repair is a small excavation, not the whole run. We explain what will be disturbed before you approve anything.
Requirements depend on the town and the job, but we recommend one either way. A cleanout is a capped access point that lets a plumber clear or camera the line from the yard instead of pulling a toilet. Yes, we install them, on slab and crawlspace homes alike.
