Soggy spot in the yard
A wet patch or sunken area between the meter and the house, with no rain to explain it, can mean a leak in the service line. We trace the line, confirm the source, and explain whether it is a repair or a replacement.

Water Line Installation and Repair
These are the six situations behind most water line calls. If yours is not here, call and describe it.
A wet patch or sunken area between the meter and the house, with no rain to explain it, can mean a leak in the service line. We trace the line, confirm the source, and explain whether it is a repair or a replacement.
If pressure is weak at every fixture, the cause can be a corroded or undersized service line, a partly closed valve, or a pressure reducing valve that has failed. We test before recommending anything.
Older service lines can be gray polybutylene or galvanized steel, and both can fail. Galvanized corrodes from the inside and restricts flow. We look at what you have and give you repair and replacement options.
A new bathroom, workshop, or garage needs its own supply branch. We plan the route, size the line for the load, and tie it in at the right point on your side of the meter.
Adding irrigation means tapping the line properly, with the right shutoff and backflow protection. We handle the plumbing side so the system gets reliable pressure.
A water line is only as safe as the dig. Before any trenching we have the buried utilities located and plan the route around them, so a new line does not cost you a hit gas or sewer line.
Clear Answers
Where the wet spot is, how the pressure behaves, or what you are adding to the property. We give you an arrival window and the price before work begins.
We find where the line runs, check what it is made of, and have buried utilities located before anyone digs. We explain the route and the options in plain language.
We make the repair or install the new line, pressure-test it, and restore the work area as agreed. We pull permits where the town requires them.
Cary Water Service
Cary homes are on Town of Cary water, which comes from Jordan Lake. The town owns the line up to the meter. From the meter to the house, the line is the homeowner's. That split matters: if the problem is before the meter, it is the town's to fix, and if it is after the meter, it is ours to repair or replace. We can help you work out which side you are on before you spend anything.
Most of Cary was built between the 1980s and the 2000s, and homes from roughly 1978 to 1995 in the Triangle may have polybutylene plumbing, so the service line is worth checking if you are in a Kildaire Farms, MacGregor Downs, Scottish Hills, or Greenwood Forest home from that era. Triangle clay soil moves with wet and dry seasons and can stress a buried line, and mature trees can too. Cary lots are a mix of slab and crawlspace homes, so we also trace where the line enters the house, since that is where a repair often has to connect.
You can call or text (919) 679-1275, or book online. Our shop is at 3460 Apex Pkwy in Apex, which borders Cary, and we work Monday through Saturday, 7:00 to 18:00. More about the town is on our Cary plumber page.
Helpful Details
It depends on how long the run is, what the line is made of, how deep and where it goes, what has to be crossed or restored, and what permits are needed. We give you the price before we start and nothing is done until you approve it. Call (919) 679-1275 and we will scope it.
In Cary, the town owns the line up to the meter and the homeowner owns the line from the meter to the house. If you think the leak is before the meter, contact the town. If it is after, call us and we will find it.
Signs include a wet or sunken spot in the yard, a water bill that jumps with no change in use, or the meter moving when everything in the house is off. We trace the line to confirm before recommending a repair.
It can be, but a failed pressure reducing valve or a partly closed valve can cause the same thing. We test pressure and check the valves first, so you are not paying to replace a line that is fine.
Yes. We plan the route, have utilities located, size the line for what it will serve, and tie in on your side of the meter. We can add an irrigation tie-in as part of the same work.
We pull permits where the town requires them. Permit needs depend on the work, and we confirm them when we scope the job.
