Main line backups that keep returning
A line that clears and backs up again a few months later is telling you something. Roots, a break, or a low spot keeps catching waste. A camera shows which, so you stop paying to clear the same problem.
Residential and Commercial Sewer Service
Repeat backups, roots in the line, or a lateral that has finally given out? We run a camera through the line, show you what is wrong, and tell you whether it needs a spot repair or a full replacement. You get the price before we start.

Sewer Line Problems
If you are searching for sewer repair near you, odds are it is one of these six. Tell us which one and we will tell you what it usually takes.
A line that clears and backs up again a few months later is telling you something. Roots, a break, or a low spot keeps catching waste. A camera shows which, so you stop paying to clear the same problem.
Roots get in at joints and cracks, then thicken until the line is mostly root. We clear them to see the pipe. If the joints have opened up, the roots will be back, and repair is the lasting fix.
A low spot holds water and paper, and every flush leaves a little behind. Clay soil movement or a poor original bed causes it. A cable punches through but does not fix it, so the section has to be corrected.
Clay, Orangeburg, and cast iron laterals in older homes crack, flake, and collapse with age. We find the damage with the camera, locate its depth, and replace the failed section or the whole run, depending on the rest of the pipe.
Without a cleanout, every cleaning means pulling a toilet or going in through a roof vent. We install a cleanout so the line can be cleared and camera-inspected from the yard.
A sewer smell outside, a soggy patch of lawn, or a green stripe over the line can mean a break in the lateral. We locate it with the camera and a locator, so we dig in the right place.
Clear Answers
We run a camera through the line, find the damage, and mark its location and depth. You see the footage, so nobody is guessing about what is under the yard.
A spot repair, a full replacement, or a cleanout so you can keep the line maintained. We explain what each involves and give you the price before we start. You approve it before anything is dug.
We make the repair, and we pull permits where the town requires them. Where an inspection is required, we schedule it and the work is not finished until it passes. We leave the site clean.
Chapel Hill Homes
Chapel Hill and Carrboro have a lot of older housing, much of it near campus and in the established neighborhoods, and many of those homes sit under mature trees. Roots find every joint in a lateral that has shifted. Homes of that age can also have clay, Orangeburg, or cast iron laterals, and none of those lasts forever. Orangeburg in particular softens and deforms with age. If your line is that old, a camera inspection tells you the true condition, which is also worth knowing before you buy.
Triangle clay soil swells when it is wet and shrinks when it is dry. That movement is the usual reason a buried line sags or separates. When the camera shows one bad section, we can often repair just that section. When it shows damage along the whole run, replacing the lateral is the honest recommendation, and we explain the difference with the price up front. For the full list of what we do, see our sewer line repair page. If the line is sound but grease or scale keeps closing it, hydro jetting may be all it needs.
Our shop is at 3460 Apex Pkwy in Apex, and we work Monday through Saturday, 7:00 to 18:00. If sewage is coming up a drain, stop running water in the house and call. For everything else we do in town, see our Chapel Hill plumber page.
Commercial Sewer Service
Shared laterals, restaurant lines, and multi-unit buildings fail for the same reasons a house does, with more people affected when they do. We camera the line, repair or replace the damaged section, and schedule around your hours where we can.
When several units share one lateral, one failure backs up all of them. We camera the line, find the damage, and give the board a clear report and price so the decision does not rest on guesswork.
Repeat backups at the same building mean the line needs a look, not another cable. We document what we find with footage and give you repair options you can plan and budget around.
Grease and heavy use are hard on a kitchen sewer line. We camera it, jet it, and repair or replace failed sections, and we try to schedule work outside service hours.
Helpful Details
It depends on the length of the line, how deep it is, what is above it (lawn, driveway, landscaping), and whether you need a spot repair or a full replacement. We camera the line first, give you the price before we start, and you approve it before any work happens.
In most Triangle towns the homeowner is responsible for the lateral from the house to the main. Confirm with your utility, because the exact point where your part ends can differ by property. We can camera the line and tell you where the damage is so you know what you are dealing with.
It depends on the length and depth of the line, what is in the way, and whether permits or an inspection are involved. A short spot repair is usually much quicker than a full run. After the camera inspection we give you a realistic schedule along with the price.
Repairs are made by digging down to the pipe, so there will be digging. We use the camera and locator to find the damage so we open only what we need, and a spot repair means a small excavation instead of the whole run. We walk you through what will be disturbed before you approve the work.
We camera the line first and recommend the method that fits what we find. Our work is open-trench: a spot repair of the damaged section, or a full replacement of the lateral. If a repair would be more than the line needs, we will say so. Call (919) 679-1275 and we will talk through your situation.
Requirements depend on the town and the job, but we recommend one whether or not it is required. A cleanout lets a plumber clear or camera the line from the yard. Many older homes do not have one, and we can add one while the line is open or as its own job.
