Shower valve or cartridge that drips or will not mix
A drip after you shut it off, or a handle that no longer controls temperature, means a worn cartridge or seals. We identify the valve, replace the worn parts, and test it hot and cold.
Shower and Tub Plumbing in Chapel Hill and Carrboro
A shower that drips, goes cold, or leaves a stain on the ceiling below needs the cause found, not just the symptom. We repair valves, cartridges, drains, and the plumbing behind the wall, in older homes and newer ones. Our shop is in Apex, and you get the real price before we start.

Shower and Tub Repair
These six cover most calls. Find the one that sounds like yours and we will tell you what it usually takes.
A drip after you shut it off, or a handle that no longer controls temperature, means a worn cartridge or seals. We identify the valve, replace the worn parts, and test it hot and cold.
Water at the shower head connection or dribbling from the arm is usually a worn seal, a loose connection, or a failing arm. It is often a quick repair, but a leak inside the wall is not, and we check which you have.
If only one shower runs cold while the rest of the house is fine, the cause is usually that valve: a worn cartridge or a stuck mixing part. If every fixture runs out of hot water, we look at the water heater instead.
A stain on the ceiling under a bathroom can come from a leaking shower pan, drain connection, tub overflow, or valve. We trace it before anything is opened up, so you only pay to fix the source.
A failed gasket at the drain or overflow can drip for months. A spout that dribbles while the shower runs has a worn diverter. We replace the assembly or part and test it with the tub full.
Older Chapel Hill houses may have the original valve still behind the tile. When a bathroom is redone, we replace it and set the drain and valve at the right points for the new shower or tub. Tile and waterproofing belong to your remodeler, and we coordinate with them.
Clear Answers
A drip, a cold shower, a stain below, or a remodel plan. If you know the age of the bathroom, tell us. We give you an arrival window and the price before work starts.
We identify the valve, drain, or leak source and say whether it is a cartridge swap, a valve replacement, or work that needs wall access. You approve the price before anything happens.
We make the repair, run the shower hot and cold, check the drain, and look for leaks before we leave. On a remodel, we test before the wall closes.
Chapel Hill Homes
Houses around the UNC campus, in Carrboro, and in North Chapel Hill are often older, and a remodel there can open up original valves that have been behind tile for decades. Replacing one means access from behind the wall, so we plan it with your remodeler. In Southern Village, Meadowmont, Eastgate, and Governors Club the homes are newer, and the calls are more often a worn builder-grade cartridge, a diverter, or a slow tub drain.
Outlying homes on private wells have a different problem. Sediment in the water can clog cartridges and shower heads and wear the seals sooner. If that is your house, tell us, and see water filtration if the sediment is constant. A stain on the ceiling under any bathroom is worth a call, and leak repair is how we trace one that is not at the fixture.

Sometimes. Many cartridges come out from the front. Replacing the full valve body usually needs access from behind the wall. We tell you which it is before we start.
It can come from the shower pan, the drain connection, the tub overflow, or a supply line. We trace the source before opening anything. Do not wait: a slow leak can soften the subfloor.
Yes, in most cases. The valve and drain have to be set at new points. We do the plumbing and coordinate with your remodeler on the tile and waterproofing, and test before the wall closes.
It points to that shower: a worn cartridge or a stuck mixing part. If every fixture runs out of hot water, the water heater is the first place to look. We check both.
Sediment can clog cartridges and shower heads and wear the seals. If your home is on a well, tell us and we check the cartridge for debris. A filter may help, and we explain the options.
